5×7″ Watercolor, with custom ivory white mat and backing board to fit any standard 5×7″ frame. (Painting inside the mat is about 3 1/2 x 5, so there is about a 1″ mat border.)

This is the first in a series of small watercolor sunsets of this view from Croton Point Park. It is a vista made famous by the Hudson River School artists, and was recently added to the official Hudson River School Art Trails sites. Croton Point Park is the location of the annual Clearwater Festival, and is great place to enjoy Hudson views and sunsets. I can’t wait to do a larger painting of this scene, but I was having so much fun doing these little ones that I have not yet embarked on a larger version!

8×10″ Watercolor, including custom ivory white mat and backing board to fit into any standard 8×10″ frame. Painting is just under 4×6″ and matted to the 8×10″ size. Framing is available at a small extra cost, but I have had these mats and backing boards custom cut so that you can use a standard frame of your choosing.

My husband and I were out hiking one day recently, and came across a stream deep in the woods with the most glowing red stream bed we’d ever seen. This one was the first of what I’m sure will be a long series of paintings from that location!

Winter Clove Inn

Tucked away behind North Mountain, in the northeastern region of the Catskill Mountains, there is a beautiful resort called Winter Clove Inn. I was thrilled when I was contacted to do a commission of the Inn as a wedding gift by a relative of the groom, who was married on the front porch of the inn. It gave me a wonderful excuse to visit a place I love multiple times!

This was painted a couple of weeks ago beside one of my favorite creeks in the Catskills. I can’t seem to stop going there! There are endless compositional possibilities and color harmonies to explore in these quiet, meandering banks.

This painting features another atmospheric day at my favorite place for painting atmospheric days — North South Lake! The Great Blue Heron flying over was a nice accent to the dramatic sky. Click the image below for a larger, clearer view of the painting.
